My service was an oil change and tire rotation, which comes with a multi-point inspection. My appointment was after 5 PM, I left the dealership around 6 PM. Another fellow made fresh popcorn and coffee during my visit. I was very surprised to see it busier than my last visits and for my service to be completed faster than normal. It was pretty busy (lots of people waiting) but they were consistently finishing tasks and people were in and out. The fellow that assisted me was very chipper and professional. However, I noticed a marked change during my most recent visit. I would not recommend this dealership just because of the salesman would not go over the price with me and how the finance guy treated me.Past visits hadn't impressed me. I have bought vehicles before, I know how it all works! I just wish the finance guy didn't play the games that he plays!! But I guess thats how dealerships make there money!! The finance man, (I don't remember his name), was not so friendly, he kept telling me that he was doing me a favor!! I questioned the finance rate and he finally told me the rate, 22.9% and I told him that I didn't want to do the deal at that rate and he first told me that is the only way it can be done, then he came back and said that it can be done at 15.99% which is still alittle high, but I agreed and thats when he kept saying how he was doing me a favor and how great he was at getting that for me and that the dealership was not making any money on the deal just to keep me as a customer!! The reason I answered the questions the way I did, is because my salesman Max was nice, my only complaint about him, is that we never talked about the price, I wanted to buy 4 new tires with the car, but for some reason it ended up me only buying 2 tires, and I just gave up and figured that I could buy the other 2 on my own later! The finance guy told me that I had to finance $1000.00 more than the price of the car because thats the minimum amount that the company would allow, so he said that I had to buy a warranty to make up the difference!! I went into the finance office not knowing anything about the price or anything!! They just assumed that I would just buy it at the high interest rate that they had on the vehicle that they didn't even discuss with me!! The Sales man (Max), was nice, but he never went over the price with me, just kept telling me that it will be ok!! Just FYI - before the day I went to Brilliance Honda to buy my car, I did not know, nor had ever met any of them before. It was a positive experience.Īfter I made the decision to buy, I have to say the finance guy (Dave Nielson) was also very helpful in answering a lot of questions. I had straight-up, honest and clear dealings with Max. While I did have to do a little negotiating with Max (understandably), he was straight-forward, willing to work with me without insulting me or my intelligence (as some salemen do) and without making it any more difficult that it needed to be. I love to do research and to shop all over for the best price, and I feel like I got the best price possible from Max (compared to several other Honda dealers in Nothern Illinois). While we did negotiate a price, it all seemed to be on the up and up. My experience with Brilliance Honda and Max Ring (the salesman) was truly a breath of fresh air. In my experience most of the stress comes with dealing with salesmen and all the games and unethical tricks they play. Excitement over buying a new car, mixed with lots of stress. Buying a new car can be a bag of mixed emotions.
